Mississauga Model Flying Club.

We play it safe….

The Mississauga Model Flying Club Inc.

FIELD SAFETY RULES AND ETIQUETTE

Every member has the responsibility and authority to assist in enforcing these rules. Our flying site is "on loan" to us and we have to ensure our good behavior in order to have the continued privilege of flying.

Violation of these rules will result in the removal of flight and, possibly, Club membership privileges. The field is used at the sole risk of the members. The Mississauga Model Flying Club, its Executive and its Instructors shall not be liable for damages to any models, equipment or vehicles.

1. Access - From Meadowvale Blvd. (old 5th Line) at the Camp Totoredaca gate

- The lock combination is available on request

- Stay on the paved and gravel driveway

- Keep the gate closed at all times

2. Times - Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

- September to June - 9am to Dusk, except when posted otherwise.

- June 15th to Labour Day weekend - on weekdays after 5pm only due to Mississauga Parks and Recreation Dept. Day camp activities.

3. Access is for club members only. Valid up to date membership and MAAC cards are to be on your person or displayed on your flight box. Flying guests must meet all Club rules especially the noise abatement and safety rules.

4. Park in the designated area only. MAAC insurance does not cover other areas. If the driveways are soft do not use them. Never drive onto the flying field or into the pit area.

5. Pets are to be restrained or on a leash and restricted to the spectator area.

6. Flight path - South of hydro line, west of trees, north of playing field, east of flight line.

Never fly over the pits, the spectator or parking areas, or over your own head or the heads of the other pilots on the flight line. Your plane should be in front of you and on the runway side of the flight line at all times.

Glider Pilots should not position hi-starts or tow-lines in areas that are used by powered aircraft for take-offs or landings. Once your plane is in the air, you should fly it from one of the flight pads.

When there are fixed-wing aircraft flying, helicopter pilots must fly from the flight pads the same as everyone else - do not fly from inside the flying field! (that is, around yourself).

Maximum two (2) aircraft in the air at one time. If the maximum two in the air is attained, additional helicopter pilots and students may "hover only" in the designated helicopter "hovering" area.

7. Children must be accompanied by an adult and are restricted to the spectator areas.

8 Free flight aircraft have right-of-way over powered ones. Tow lines must be removed from the powered model runways.

9 Keep the area clean. Collect and take all your trash home for disposal. There is no trash removal at the field.

10. Upon arrival place your transmitter in the impound and be certain it is turned off. Frequency pins must be on your antenna when your TX is in the impound. If you have finished your flight, and do not plan another flight right away, your TX should be returned to the impound.

11. When a transmitter is put in service the user's pin must be placed over the matching frequency, on the frequency control board. Range check your radio equipment before each flying session. If you notice anything unusual or different, don't fly. Find out why things are not normal, and fix them if necessary.

12. If two or more pilots are using the same frequency courtesy should be observed to share the frequency accordingly.

13. Plane and ground support equipment is to remain behind the flight line and spaced to allow for easy circulation between the pits. Exhausts of aircraft are to blow away from pit area. Face models in.

14. No extended running of engines in pit area. If you require more than a couple of minutes, move to the end of the field area.

15. Planes on take off run are to remain on ground until safely past the end of the pilots boxes. .

16. Effective mufflers are required on all engines. Aircraft may be subject to random sound checks. If an aircraft does not comply with the Club's sound level limits 90 dB @ 3m, measured at ground level), then that aircraft may not fly until it is modified and passes a follow up sound check.

17. Do not taxi in the pits. Carry your aircraft in and out of the pits. Taxiing models on the runway must give right of way to those landing or taking off especially in the case of a dead stick landing.

Planes returning to the pits are to stop their engines at the side of the runway, and are to be carried back into the pits.

18. A pilot's intention to take off or land must be clearly announced to the other pilots. After landing, the aircraft shall be quickly removed from the runway. If a pilot needs to enter the runway, to retrieve a plane, his intention should be clearly announced.

19. Low passes and fly-bys over the runway are to be into the wind with the established traffic pattern and not closer to the pilots boxes than down the middle of the runway.

20. All aerobatics are to be safety flown to the east of the runway.

21. There is a First Aid kit available at the field. You should find out where it is kept. It is also a good idea to carry some basic first aid stuff (like bandages) in your own field kit, but one of the most important safety tips by far is to never fly alone.

If you are involved in an accident (however seemingly insignificant) that involves personal injury or property damage to someone other than yourself, you MUST make a full report (in writing) to MAAC immediately. Forward a copy of the report to the Club's Executive (also immediately), and save a copy or two for yourself and your own insurance company. If you have any questions, contact a member of the Club Executive.

NOISE ABATEMENT OF 90dB at 9 FEET MUST BE STRICTLY ADHERED TO.
